Anti-discriminatory practice aims to counteract the negative effects of discrimination on carers and young people and to combat discrimination in all its forms. As a social worker you must not be involved in any actions that could be seen as discriminatory or potentially insulting to any individual or group, including your colleagues. Anti-discriminatory practice is an approach which seeks to reduce, undermine or eliminate discrimination . Social workers occupy positions of power and influence whether this in intentional or by default. Anti-discriminatory practice is an attempt to eradicate discrimination from our own practice and challenge it in the practice of others.
